First Aid at Work Requalification (FAW)

The First Aid at Work (FAW) qualification expires three years after the date on the certificate. Candidates must re-qualify before the expiry date of their existing qualification.

If you fail to requalify prior to the expiry date of your existing certificate, you may still be able to requalify by successfully completing a two-day First Aid at Work requalification course within 28 days (following your qualification expiry date).

Please note: you are not permitted to act as a first aider until you have requalified.

To re-qualify, you must complete a 12-hour renewal course and be assessed against all learning outcomes and assessment criteria. This can be achieved over two days or split into smaller sessions but must be completed within seven weeks of the start of the renewal course. A blended learning version of the renewal course is also available.
